Blood Donation Camp 2017

At Northern India Engineering College (NIEC), students are encouraged to imbibe the principle of community service and be generous and large hearted - bound by beliefs beyond themselves. Organizing a Blood Donation Camp is just another step in this direction. Keeping the tradition alive, NIEC organized a BLOOD DONATION CAMP in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society on 17 Feb, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students and staff of NIEC turned up in large numbers to donate blood.

Mr. S. N. Garg, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) stressed the importance of the blood donation camps as it saves millions of lives. He added,” blood donation is the best service to human kind as the blood you donate gives someone another chance to live. One day that someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one - or even you.” Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Govil, Director during his tenure has devoted his life in the service of mankind and continues to do so. He said that, “donation of blood is a priceless gift to humanity and further added that by donating blood we help a needy and save a precious life.”

About 248 people registered for blood donation, out of which, 131 candidates were able to donate blood as the donors went through a series of medical checkups before donating blood. The donated blood will aid transfusions to children affected by thalassemia, an inherited autosomal recessive blood disorder that causes the weakening and destruction of red blood cells.

A confidential blood test report and a DONOR’s card shall be provided to the donors by Indian Red Cross Society.

The event was a huge success with a large number of students and teachers turned up for this noble cause.

Special thanks to our Photography partner Confluenz: The Photography Society of NIEC for covering the event.
